The US House of Representatives has just passed a jobs bill which includes 203 Billion dollars for Education. Out of that money, about $1.4 billion is marked for the New York State Education Department. Passage of this bill is critical to NYS education funding. Here's what you can do to help. Your participation in this effort is critically important to restore funding for our districts and programs.
- Go to the NYSUT Home Page and click on Legislative Action on the left.
- Click on FAX your US Legislator
- Check the box that says: Support the Education Jobs Fund and Extend FMAP (check any other boxes that are of interest to you.)
- Go back to Legislative Action Page and click FAX your NY State legislator.
- Click on boxes 3 and 4: Restore K-12 Proposed Budget Cuts and Restore Funding to Teacher Centers (There are other boxes you might want to check here as well.)
Then, just follow the directions on the right and you can automatically fax all elected officials, including the Governor.
