GRADUATING COLLEGE STUDENT INSURANCE

If you have NYS Empire Plan or the East End Health Plan you can request that your family health insurance coverage be continued for a period of three months after your dependent student has graduated from college. To request a continuation of coverage you must notify human resources (Mary Sue Dileva 289-2200) and your insurance company in writing of the anticipated graduation date of your son/daughter. This benefit is for health insurance only, it does not apply to dental or vision. (EEHP has vision coverage as part of it health coverage)

If your dependent graduating college senior is the only reason you have the family plan, you must wait the three months before you switch to  individual coverage. Therefore, DO NOT drop the family plan in June, wait until the three months are up.  Remember, it is always the responsibility of the member to let Human Resources know of any changes to your coverage needs.
